Project Overview

Grille 151 is an upscale yet comfortable American restaurant specializing in seafood, beef, and comfort foods. It offers a high-quality dining experience at affordable prices and, while this is a new establishment, the owner Chris has extensive experience in the restaurant industry. We loved watching the new restaurant transform from vision to reality while we worked on branding and designing the website.

Perhaps the best part of our project was ordering a meal on opening night from the menus we designed under the lit up logo... we also designed! Such a satisfying (and delicious!) culmination.

Getting to Know Grille 151

When Chris approached us to brand his new restaurant and design its website, we were so excited to jump right in—he's a long-time professional in the restaurant industry and gave us plenty of creative freedom.

When we started the logo design, construction was underway and we got to watch the restaurant take shape while the branding did the same. Grille 151 would be a full-service restaurant geared toward American cuisine, steaks, seafood and comfort foods as well as some modern dishes; also offering craft cocktails, great wines, and a large selection of beers (draft and bottles/cans).

Chris values the importance of top notch customer service, exceptional food quality, and professional staff. "We will treat all of our customers as if they were guests in our home," he said.

Branding

All the of the branding projects we work on at MavroCreative begin with a branding questionnaire, which gathers information to get to know the client and even more importantly their ideal customer. We learn what adjectives and feelings that the company should be associated with and this helps us establish a color palette and overall look and feel that will speak to that ideal customer.

Below you’ll find the three concepts we presented to Grille 151, and you’ll see that they opted to adopt Concept 1 with some edits. We worked together in one round of revisions to polish this to create the finalized concept you see below in the final branding board.

Final Branding Board

Our final branding board is below, calling out the various layouts of the logo and submarks, along with the color final palette and values for print and web. We package up these files for the client and organize them by project type: Print (EPS, PDFs, and JPEGS in cmyk format) and Web (JPEGS in rgb format, and  PNGs) for easy access in future projects.  This gives the client the tools to put its new brand into action.

Website

About the Website

We LOVE creating a website for a client we’ve branded first because it makes for a seamless transition from logo and brand creation to website design. We’ve already gotten to know the client, the customer, and the colors, fonts and vibes are locked in and established.

We start by gathering content which includes copy and imagery from the client. Next we create project timeline with deliverables, a flowchart, and home page mockup. Then, we design the home page and one or two interior pages that we share with the client to make sure our design direction is on point. Again, when we’ve branded them, we can assume it will be because they’re not surprised by any of the design decisions we’ve made. Upon client approval, we move on to create the remaining pages.

When a client has stunning photography this beautiful (shout out to Blu Lemonade, who we very highly recommend!) and a dining room as on-brand and impeccable as Grille 151, it makes our job much easier. Ultimately, the client ends up with a website that meets its goals and turns website visitors into actual diners.
